What the heck is a coffee table for?

So, I don’t have coffee on it.  Why is it called a coffee table?  Here is the list of things on my “coffee table” right now…

• Home phone
• Cell Phone
• Three empty water bottles
• Can of carpet cleaner
• Empty bowl from scrambled egg beaters
• Empty pack of smokes
• Pack of smokes
• Incense
• Empty box of Triscuits
• Bottle of Ketchup, from my roasted potatoes last night.
• Shipping box my camera came in
• Lighter
• Pen
• Chap-stick
• DVD remote
• Receipts
• Pad of paper
• Vonage Book

 Honestly, that’s ridiculous!  Who has that much, non coffee related items, on their coffee table?

Side note:  I used the last of my coffee yesterday, hence the no coffee.
